Document element is used in TreeGraph 2 as a generic term for all parts a TreeGraph 2-document consists of.

Formatting document elements
The layout of every document element can be formatted (Element formats), whereas every type of document element has different format properties. Depending on which properties an element has it is sometimes categorized with one of the following terms:
- Text element (a tree element which has text format properties)
- Line element (a tree element which has line format properties)
- Corner radius element (a tree element which has a corner radius)
